Archangels- Uriel

A sculpture from a series I produced years ago:
Sculpted in chavant clay , hand cast in urethane and hand painted. 6" H x 6" W.
Uriel, the fire of god, guardian of the keys to the gates of hell, is charged with throwing wide its gates at the final judgement.

The Judeo-Christian angel is alternately portrayed as a protector of the weak and harbinger of dark portent. Old testament and apocryphal writings describe a creature of terrifying visage and power while modern representations have embraced the image of classical Greek winged demi-gods, which became the norm during the renaissance. Enochian magickal systems and certain offshoots of modern paganism have adopted the archangels or seraphim as conduits to higher spiritual learning and occult knowledge.
